DESCRIPTION

UIC – the Alaska Native Village Corporation of Barrow, Alaska – hit $258 million in sales in 2006. Just as important, 2006 was the year UIC set the “protection and promotion of Iñupiat culture” as a primary focus of its corporate endeavors. Steps to maintain tribal village sovereignty and ensure the survival, wellbeing, and advancement of Iñupiat language, history, and culture became part of standard practices at UIC companywide.
