Cultural Alaska
PROJECT
Logo design, stationery package
DESCRIPTION
Monty Rogers moved to Alaska 11 years ago with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse and five years of experience working as an archaeologist in the Midwest. Since moving to Alaska, he’s become a husband and father and obtained his master’s in anthropology from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He has continued to work as an archaeologist as well as conduct ethnographic research throughout the state.
This year, he opened Cultural Alaska, an Anchorage-based small business striving to preserve traditional resources and customary practices by partnering with tribes, communities, organizations, businesses, and the public to ensure they have a greater voice in federal and state regulatory processes.
Rogers contacted Mad Dog with an idea for his logo – the fish drying rack common to Native villages across the state. With a limited budget and an abbreviated timeline for production, Mad Dog created a mark to help establish Rogers as an expert in his field.
