Anchorage, AK – Recently, Mad Dog Graphx Anchorage teamed with Identity, Inc. and Pride Foundation to name and create the visual identity for an initiative aimed at promoting LGBT-friendly workplaces and supporting and recognizing the businesses and companies fostering diversity and inclusivity with equal treatment of and consideration for LGBT employees.
The program now known as 1+1 Alaska is an initiative of One Anchorage, One Economy and Live. Work. Play. and is supported by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation.
The 1+1 Alaska logo and some of the materials created for the rollout of the program.
The name and logo were adopted in October and first presented publicly in November at AEDC’s First Friday event, “I Love Anchorage.” The lobby of the Egan Center became a gallery displaying a year’s worth of photos taken by Anchorage residents sharing how they live, work, and play in the Last Frontier.
At the event, Identity, Inc. and Pride Foundation introduced the 1+1 Alaska Survey, a tool to help Alaska businesses stay competitive and attract and retain an effective workforce and loyal customer base by championing company policies and practices that include the LGBT community.
Identity, Inc. and Pride Foundation officially introduced the program at the January “Make It Monday” luncheon of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce.
The official rollout of the initiative took place at the January Anchorage Chamber of Commerce “Make It Monday” forum. Identity Executive Director Drew Phoenix and Regional Development Organizer Josh Hemsath of Pride Foundation presented the program to the Chamber and the luncheon audience. Panel speakers including Bill Popp of AEDC, Judith Crotty of Wells Fargo, Michelle Egan of Alyeska Pipeline, and Scott Allen of Trailboss Solutions discussed diversity in the workplace and spoke about the benefits of taking the 1+1 Alaska Survey.
The next step for 1+1 Alaska will be to build a roster of pilot businesses committed to the program.
The luncheon presentation took place at the Dena’ina Center downtown.
The panelists answered questions about the benefits of establishing inclusive polices in the workplace.
