Anchorage Project Access
PROJECT
New Paths to Our Destination (2015)
DESCRIPTION
Anchorage Project Access has always worked toward one goal – to increase access to health care for low income uninsured members of the Anchorage community.
But in light of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the requirements and regulations it imposed, APA needed to find some new ways to reach their goal. Although ACA provided a path to acquiring health insurance for the majority of Americans, the lowest income families and individuals still weren’t addressed.
APA realized that there were still tens of thousands in Anchorage who didn’t qualify for assistance through ACA or Medicaid, or simply couldn’t afford even minimal premiums or deductibles. Many lacked access to care because they didn’t know about their eligibility or how to enroll. APA now offers ACA enrollment navigation services in addition to the traditional pro bono health care model that they built in Anchorage.
The annual shows APA’s willingness to explore new territories in an effort to guide their clients to the health care resources they need.
